Friday and time to spare, what to do? Eat? Well, if you are me, yes…. Beachwood is closed, down the hill to the deli to see Jess. What haven’t I tried yet? What keeps bugging me when someone asks, ‘What is this like?’ And I have to reply with a dismal, unhelpful- ‘I’m not sure, sorry.’

Passion Pasta! With packaging as lovely as this I’m not sure why I haven’t done this before… Now the big choice was, what Passion Pasta sauce to try? Pumpkin and Basil? Roasted Vegetable? Tomato and Garlic? Creamy Tomato & Pesto?


A little game of eanie-meanie later and Creamy Tomato & Pesto became the winner. Passion Pasta do a great range of Pasta’s too, but I’m not a matchy-matchy kind of girl so I thought I would mix it up a little and give Fino’s Pappardelle Pasta a go (considered by some the best pasta in Australia), as well as grabbing a few more items from the deli to give it a little more razz. I also picked up some button mushrooms, onion, basil, chili, cherry tomatoes, organic garlic and some Salumi Salami so it was a real and yummy meal.

A good pasta is easy and really straight forward- Olive oil in pan, in goes to onion, garlic and chili, next the cherry tomatoes and mushrooms let it all play together- meanwhile, in a saucepan of boiling salted water put in your pasta and let it cook for about six minutes, stirring immediately and then occasionally (different obviously for different pastas but it’s generally the same). Throw the salami in the fry pan, let it cook for a short while- drain and rinse your pasta, throw some olive oil through  and give it a good mix in then do the same with your pasta sauce- add all your fry pan goods, stir it all in and there you have it- A pasta that will get you and your guests feeling the love, and maybe a little passionate?
